Connect your WooCommerce store
Link an existing WooCommerce site so products, stock and orders stay in step with your shop. Covers API keys, tax mapping and first sync.

How does the WooCommerce connection work?
You create API keys in WooCommerce, paste them into BoutiquePOS, map your tax rates, then sync. BoutiquePOS becomes the one place you edit products and stock. WooCommerce shows them, and online orders come back into BoutiquePOS so a dress sold online is no longer on your rack count.
Before you start
- A WooCommerce store on a recent version, with pretty permalinks turned on and HTTPS working.
- Admin access to your WordPress site.
- A Collection or Flagship plan.
- Your products in BoutiquePOS with SKUs, categories, prices and stock.
- A backup of your WooCommerce site. The first sync can update many products at once.
- A decision: is BoutiquePOS or WooCommerce your source of product data from now on? It should be BoutiquePOS.
Step by step: create WooCommerce API keys
- In WordPress, go to WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API.
- Choose Add key.
- Description: “BoutiquePOS”. User: an admin. Permissions: Read/Write.
- Choose Generate API key.
- Copy the consumer key and consumer secret now. WooCommerce will not show the secret again.
Step by step: connect BoutiquePOS
- In BoutiquePOS, open WooCommerce → API settings.
- Paste your store URL (the full https address), consumer key and consumer secret.
- Choose the location whose stock WooCommerce should show. Most boutiques pick the main shop or the warehouse.
- Choose the selling price group to use online, if online prices differ from shop prices.
- Choose the default order status settings that should count as a sale.
- Save.
Map tax rates
Open the tax mapping section and match each BoutiquePOS tax rate to the WooCommerce tax class. If you skip this, online orders may come in with the wrong tax.
Step by step: run the first sync
Sync in this order:
- Categories. So products land in the right place on your site.
- Products. Choose to sync new products first. Variable products send each size and color as a WooCommerce variation, with its own SKU, price and stock.
- Orders. Pull in WooCommerce orders so they show as sales and reduce stock.
Check five products on your live site, including one with sizes, before you rely on it.
Keeping it in step
After the first sync, edit products, prices and stock in BoutiquePOS only. Changes you make directly in WooCommerce can be overwritten at the next sync. Set up the scheduled sync so stock and orders update throughout the day.
More detail on what syncs and how is on the WooCommerce and Shopify sync page.
Common problems
“Invalid consumer key” or 401 error
The key was pasted with a space, the permissions are Read only, or the URL is http instead of https. Generate a new key with Read/Write and paste carefully.
Products duplicate on WooCommerce
Products already existed on WooCommerce with different SKUs. Match SKUs on both sides before syncing, or remove the old WooCommerce products after checking with your web developer.
Variations are missing
The product is single in BoutiquePOS, or variation SKUs are blank. Make it a variable product with a unique SKU on each size and color, then sync again.
Orders are not coming in
Check the order sync has run, the orders have a status you set to import, and the WooCommerce site is not blocking API requests through a security plugin. If you are stuck, contact us with the error message.
