How long does it take to create an account?

About ten minutes. You fill in one signup form, answer a few questions about your business, and you land on your dashboard. Nothing is installed, and you can come back later to finish the details.

This guide walks you through each screen so you know what to pick and what you can safely leave for later.

Before you start

Have these ready so you do not have to stop halfway:

  • Your boutique’s trading name, exactly as you want it on receipts.
  • The currency you sell in (US dollars, UAE dirhams or Pakistani rupees, for example).
  • Your sales tax or VAT rate, and whether your shelf prices already include it.
  • Your business address and a phone number for receipts.
  • An email address you check daily. This becomes the owner login.
  • Your logo as a PNG or JPG, if you have one. Square works best.

Step by step: signing up

  1. Open the signup page and choose Start free trial.
  2. Enter your business name. This shows on receipts, invoices and your online store, so use the name customers know you by.
  3. Pick your currency. Every price, report and receipt uses it.
  4. Choose your country and time zone. The time zone decides when “today” ends in your sales reports, so a boutique in Dubai should not leave it on New York time.
  5. Set the financial year start month. In the US this is usually January; in Pakistan many shops use July.
  6. Create the owner login: your name, email and a strong password. This account can see everything, so do not share it with staff. You will give staff their own logins later.
  7. Accept the terms and submit. You will land on your dashboard.

Which settings should I check first?

Before you add a single product, open Settings → Business settings and confirm three things. Getting them right now saves a lot of cleanup.

Tax

Go to Settings → Tax rates and add your rate:

  • USA: add your state and local sales tax rate. US shoppers expect tax added at the till, so prices are usually entered exclusive of tax.
  • UAE: add VAT at 5%. Shelf prices in Dubai normally include VAT, so set prices as inclusive.
  • Pakistan: add the sales tax rate that applies to your business, and decide whether your tags show tax-inclusive prices.

If you charge more than one tax on the same item, create a tax group that combines them.

Logo and receipt details

Upload your logo and check the address and phone on the business profile. These print on every receipt. You can fine-tune the receipt layout per location later.

Default profit margin and SKU prefix

Set a default margin if you price by markup, and a short SKU prefix (for example “BQ-”). New products then get tidy codes automatically, which matters once you start printing barcode labels.

What do I do next?

Your account is live, but it has one default location and no products. Work through the rest of the getting-started guides in order:

  1. Add locations and registers so each shop and till is set up.
  2. Invite staff and set roles so nobody shares the owner login.
  3. Add a product with sizes and colors or import your catalog from a spreadsheet.

The full path from signup to first sale is laid out on how it works.

Common problems

I never got the welcome email

Check spam and promotions folders first. If it is not there, make sure you typed the email correctly by logging in with it. Work email filters sometimes hold messages from new senders for a few minutes.

The dashboard shows yesterday’s sales as today’s

Your time zone is wrong. Fix it in Settings → Business settings. Sales already recorded keep their timestamps, but reports will group them correctly once the zone is right.

Prices on receipts are off by the tax amount

You probably entered prices as tax-inclusive while the tax rate is set to exclusive, or the other way round. Pick one approach, set it on the tax rate and on your products, and ring a test sale to confirm the total matches the tag.

I picked the wrong currency

If you have not added products or sales yet, change it in business settings. If you have, contact us before you go further and we will help you sort it out cleanly.

How long is the free trial?

The trial runs for 14 days so you can set up your catalog and ring test sales before you decide. Choose a plan from your account settings when you are ready to keep going.

Can I change my currency after signing up?

Set it carefully at signup. Your currency is used on every price, report and receipt, so changing it after you have sales on record makes old figures hard to read. If you picked the wrong one on day one, contact us before you add products.

Is there anything to install?

No. BoutiquePOS runs in a web browser on a tablet, laptop or desktop, and there is a mobile app for checking stock and sales on the go.
